Welcome to Hooked! Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use the Hooked mobile application and website (collectively, the “Service”).

By using the Service, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

1. Definitions

• Application refers to the Hooked mobile app.

• Company (“we”, “us”, or “our”) refers to Hooked.

• Personal Data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual.

• Event means a time-limited, organizer-created session where users may interact.

• Device means any device that can access the Service such as a smartphone.

• Usage Data means anonymized data collected automatically when using the Service.

• Service Provider refers to any third party (e.g., Firebase, Apple, Google) involved in supporting the Service.

• You means the user of the Service.

2. What We Collect

We only collect the minimum necessary personal data to offer our event-based social experience.

a. User-Provided Data

• First and last name

• Email address

• Profile photo (optional)

• Gender identity and selected interests (for event-matching)

• QR code or event code (to join a specific event)

• Optional feedback (submitted via app)

b. Automatically Collected Data

• Device and app usage (e.g., screen visits, tap events)

• Device type, OS version, and IP address

• Time of access, crash logs, and performance data

c. Third-Party Login Data

If you sign in using Google or Apple:

• Name, email, and profile photo

• Public profile info used strictly for setting up your account

3. What Happens After The Event?

After your event ends, your profile is automatically removed within 72 hours. Anonymized usage logs and diagnostic data may be retained to improve the platform, ensure safety, and comply with legal obligations.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

• Create and manage your event-specific profile

• Match you with attendees based on interests

• Enable chatting and contact exchange

• Send push notifications (if you permit it)

• Respond to support tickets and improve performance

We do not sell your data or use it for third-party marketing.

5. Permissions We May Request

We may ask for:

• Notifications: to alert you about matches/messages

• Camera/Photos: to upload your profile photo

• Location (optional): to improve event recommendations

Permissions are voluntary and can be managed in your device settings.

6. Tracking & Analytics

We do not use cookies in the mobile app. However, we do use Firebase and Expo SDKs which collect anonymous performance data for crash reports and analytics.

7. Who We Share Data With

We only share your data with:

• Firebase (auth, database, analytics)

• Expo (build & deployment)

• Apple/Google (login services)

We do not share your data with event organizers, other users (unless you match), or advertisers.

8. Data Retention & Deletion

• Your event profile is deleted within 72 hours after the event ends.

• You may request deletion at any time via the app or by emailing us.

• We retain anonymized usage data for diagnostics and analytics only.

9. Children’s Privacy

Hooked is for users 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

10. Security

We use secure Firebase infrastructure and encryption standards to protect your data. However, no online platform is 100% secure.

11. Third-Party Links

Hooked may link to external sites (like Google or Apple login). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party platforms.

12. Changes To This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, you’ll be notified in-app or via email. Updated policies will always be posted with a revised date at the top.
